Originating from a background in the secure payment gateway business, the GCrypt management team noticed that very little security was being applied to the sending of credit card data by email. GCrypt identified a gap in the marketplace for a simple, cost effective and easy to use secure email solution that would meet PCI requirements. In response to this GCrypt developed their secure email software SSLPost.
The SSLPost solution was also intended for secure electronic document delivery, and the software meets the requirements set out in the HM Revenue and Customs notice for electronic invoicing.
SSLPost uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols with a 128-bit key to encrypt communication with the server. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm is used with a 128-bit key to encrypt messages. AES and SSL are recognised as highly secure algorithms when used with a 128-bit key.
